Value Engineering

Following a competitive tendering process Clegg Food Projects were selected by Noble Foods to work with them to implement their project to deliver a new Egg Packing and Distribution Centre.

On appointment Clegg first carried out a detailed value engineering exercise on the client's initial design which identified captial savings of approximately 10% of the project cost.  This was achieved using Clegg's experience of food industry project design and implementation to assess the value and benefit of each key aspect of the project and propose alternatives which reduced the cost of time or materials without adversely affecting the final outcome.

The project required integration into an existing office and distribution centre which continued to operate as construction took place.  The project timetable was very tight with new equipment arriving at a specified time to meet Noble's production requirements.

The facility included extensive temperature controlled storage for the receipt of eggs from farms in the region. The central grading and packing area was fitted out to create a hygienic production environment for the installation of robotic egg grading and packing lines.  Finally a finished goods storage area was created to store the packed product before distribution to retailer warehouses across the south of England.
