Testing Laboratory

Clegg Food Projects was approached by international testing laboratory group Eurofins to engineer and construct a purpose-built facility with laboratories, offices and amenities.

Overview of the food and water testing laboratory

Clegg Food Projects was approached by Eurofins and its consultant partners to develop a design, programme and cost plan for a project based in Livingstone, Scotland.

This involved converting an existing commercial site into a purpose-built laboratory testing facility including multiple laboratories, offices and amenities. The majority of the ground floor – approximately 2,400 sq m – was stripped bare. The team then reconfigured and refurbished the space to meet the new layout plans.

A collaborative approach was adopted, with the Clegg Food Projects team providing technical input. We utilised our own management team as well as consulting with our specialist supply chain of experienced sub-contractors.

We also worked closely with the client team who would be using and working in the labs to agree the testing laboratory standards and specifications for the various rooms.

The project once established did run smoothly - at all times Cleggs were solution driven and were fully engaged in the process. The site manager was always available and very helpful through the numerous site visits. He was always on top of status and was fully aware of any issues - the overall project manager was not just a name on a project plan, he was fully engaged and on site on a regular basis for planned meetings, again very proactive and solution oriented. The project hit a couple of issues but these were dealt with quickly and with minimal disruption. It was clear that the team were very experienced and knowledgeable
