We’re attending the Sustainable Food Factory Conference 2024

We’re attending the Sustainable Food Factory Conference 2024, billed as one of the UK’s foremost events on decarbonising food and beverage operations.

The inaugural conference, which will be held on 12 June at Nottingham Trent University, is focused on bringing the UK’s food and drink manufacturing value chain together to discuss sustainability.

With a wide range of world-class speakers, the one-day event is set to cover topics such as navigating the sustainable manufacturing journey, decarbonising operations, and exploring the latest technologies aimed at reducing energy consumption and driving down emissions.

Our business development manager Oliver Jenkins will be in attendance. He said: “Sustainability is at the forefront of our minds on every project and, wherever possible, we incorporate sustainable construction methods and technologies to deliver efficient energy solutions for our clients.

“Renewables and building efficiency are crucial markers of success across many of the manufacturing and low-carbon sectors we work in. However, there is always more to learn and innovative ways to improve our approach, so I’m looking forward to attending the Sustainable Food Factory Conference, hearing from the panelists, and meeting like-minded people to discuss sustainability in our ever evolving sector.”

One of the speakers is Tristan Fischer, CEO of Fischer Farms, who will be speaking about the company’s vertical farm project. Clegg Food Projects was the principal contractor, delivering the ‘world’s biggest’ vertical farm at the end of 2023.

Fischer Farms interior vertical farming

The 25,000 sq m, state-of-the-art, climate-controlled Norfolk facility utilises an energy-efficient, LED-based lighting system to produce high-quality crops on just four acres of land – yielding 250 times more leafy greens than conventional farming. This innovative facility is a key step towards Fischer Farm’s plan to create a revolution in farming with scalable, next generation agriculture.

The Sustainable Food Factory Conference was established to help UK food and beverage manufacturers access the knowledge and contacts to start or continue on their journey to carbonise their operations. For more information about the event, please visit https://sustainablefoodfactory.live/.
