Built to deliver: laying the foundations for a strong 2025

The first half of 2025 has been nothing short of dynamic for Clegg Food Projects. From major project completions to key industry events, our team has been hard at work delivering high-impact, future-ready food and drink facilities across the UK.

While the wider sector has seen some cautious movement on new investments, particularly in traditional manufacturing, our partnerships have continued to evolve – and so have the ambitions of our clients. We’ve remained focused on designing and delivering innovation, with continued collaboration across a range of sectors, including brewing, bakery, milling, and chilled food production.

Powering progress: project highlights from h1

In the last six months, we’ve been incredibly busy on site, completing several major projects across a range of different sectors. We pride ourselves on our food and beverage expertise and we’ve worked closely with customers to complete next-generation factories in the confectionery, fresh produce, and bakery sectors so far this year. We have also made significant progress on schemes in the advanced manufacturing for defence and electronics industries.

A couple of standout moments worth celebrating include:

Greggs: We successfully completed three significant projects for Greggs to support its nationwide growth strategy, continuing a relationship that now spans more than 20 years.

Molson Coors HQ: We delivered the brewer’s brand-new UK headquarters in Burton-upon-Trent, a contemporary, flexible space that reflects the company’s commitment to innovation and wellbeing. Read our recent blog post to find out more here.

Rising to the challenge: supporting industry growth

We’re proud to be actively supporting some of the UK’s biggest names as they plan for long-term, sustainable growth. This includes working with clients such as Heineken, Florette, Premier Foods and Richardson Milling to design and build next-generation food and drink facilities.

Although parts of the industry have slowed due to wider economic caution, we’re seeing exciting developments in the defence and advanced manufacturing sectors, both of which present new opportunities for specialist, high-integrity construction.

On the ground: engaging with the industry

Being close to the pulse of the sector is a priority for us. That’s why we were pleased to attend Foodex 2025 and the Sustainable Food Factory Conference earlier this year – two cornerstone events that offer fantastic opportunities to connect with clients, suppliers and peers, and to hear what’s next for the industry.

We’ve also attended a number of smaller, but just as engaging, events in the first six months of 2025. The Roythornes Food Business Breakfast and International Food and Drink Event (IFE) were two particular highlights.

The resilience of the UK food and drink manufacturing sector has been evident at all the events we’ve attended so far this year. While ongoing trade uncertainties have been a cloud above our heads, businesses in the sector continue to invest and expand their operations, underpinning the sector’s role in the UK economy.

Looking ahead, we have confirmed our attendance at PPMA Total Show and IMHX Logistics Solutions 2025 this September. We will be exhibiting and showcasing our expertise in delivering complex food and logistics facilities, as well as connecting with partners old and new.

Going beyond the build

Our commitment to building better goes beyond the sites we work on. In recent months, we’ve:

  • Donated £1,000 to help the Sutton Coldfield Sea Scouts buy more paddle boards, allowing more young people to get involved in water sports, learn new skills and have exciting experiences.
  • Renewed our partnership with Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, alongside Clegg Construction, as part of our commitment to the environment and sustainability.
  • Raised a total of £4,650 for nine different charities – from the Joseph Cooper Trust to football shirt sponsorship for Chilwell School – showcasing our ongoing dedication to supporting local communities and charitable causes that are close to the team’s heart as part of our Employee Ownership Trust values.
  • Hired a number of talented new team members to support across the business.

What’s next?

Looking to the second half of the year, the pipeline is active and full of promise. We’re currently on-site with a variety of projects and tendering for several major developments, with announcements to follow in the coming months.

Our focus remains clear: continuing to work closely with leading manufacturers to deliver efficient, sustainable and future-proof facilities. With strong momentum and a committed team, the rest of 2025 is set to be just as exciting.
