Overview of sourcing, designing and constructing the Greggs Distribution Centre
Clegg Food Projects has worked with Greggs plc on many projects over the years.
This new facility was designed to create additional storage and distribution capacity in order to supply its stores in London and the South East. This move was part of the firm’s business expansion and efficiency improvements.
Once Greggs decided on a preferred location, the Clegg Food Projects team then proceeded to prepare and submit a planning application. Detailed design and early stage procurement of the distribution centre continued and ensured that work on site could commence as soon as possible.
The design for the new facility involved demolishing some of the existing storage buildings on site. This was to make areas suitable for receiving, storing and distributing a wide range of products to Greggs’ stores in the area.
